Design Process

I started this project with a longstanding logo that I had made back in the mid 2010s. I had used it for quite some time - initially for my photography business, and then for my online presence as a designer as well.

Initial changes to original logo

Because I knew I wanted to keep the eye logo mark, I started by giving it a more polished, rounded look, as well as a little bit of character and quirk with the pupil position and eyelashes.

Logo mark iiterations

After I had landed on a final iteration of the new eye style, I started down that seemingly never-ending rabbit hole of typeface searching. The balance between something that represented my personality while still being professional; that was fun and quirky to the average eye, but not falling into the kitschy overdone trends was tough to find.

Final logo mark

Being an avid reader since I was young, there was something about the Bookmania font that caught my eye and immediately felt right. Both playful and bold, while having a classic timeless feel without being stuffy. And the ligatures - oh boy, were those fun to mix and match until I came up with the combination that felt right.

Final word mark variations

After finalizing the word mark came the logo lock-up iterations. I found the offset word mark to have the perfect space for the eye to fit in and not feel overpowering or competing like other iterations.

Lock-up variations

The final logo lock-ups and icons in the three brand colours. Additionally, I made a variety of icons for potential use cases whether decorative or as indicators.
